About the Office of the Controller
Associate Vice President and Controller, Mr. Fred Friedrich, reports to the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Kevin P. Hegarty. The controller supports the university's mission by providing timely, accurate, and relevant financial information to the university's administrators. In addition, the controller offers business and financial support services to the university's chief business officers and their staff.

The controller's management team in the Office of Accounting oversees Accounts Payable (including Departmental Scholarships and Payments for Professional Services), Bursar, Business Income Tax, Contracts and Grants Accounting, Financial Reporting and Analysis, HRMS, Imaging and Records Retention, Inventory, Purchasing, Student Accounting, Student and Financial Accounting Information Systems and Data Warehousing, Treasury services, TXShop, and User Services.

The management team reporting to the controller is responsible for supporting and developing financial and student accounting information systems and promulgating clear, practical guidelines to assist the university community in dispensing fiscal responsibilities through these systems.

In addition to the above services, the controller serves as the university's property risk manager. Comprehensive property, auto and various programmatic (i.e. general camp liability) insurance policy information is available through the Office of the Controller's website.
