University Data Center Director Announced

Brad Englert, Interim, Chief Operating Officer for Information Technology Services (ITS), has announced that Michael Cunningham has accepted the position of Director, University Data Center. He starts his new position on March 1, 2010.
In making the announcement, Brad said "I am confident that Mike will provide strong strategic and operational leadership for the University Data Centers in support of the growing information technology requirements of the University."
Mike brings over twenty years of experience to the job, having worked in the Austin high-tech sector for both IBM and Dell. He served as Director of Global Facilities & Real Estate at Dell and was responsible for Dell's strategy for data center location, design, construction and operations on a global scale. He has also advised private sector clients on data center strategies and operations.
The expertise and knowledge of the campus community played a significant role in the selection process. Dan Stanzione, Deputy Director, Texas Advanced Computer Center (TACC), and Fred Chang, Associate Dean, College of Natural Sciences, served on the applicant screening panel. There were also interview panels with the Data Center Customer Steering Committee.
